Thema: Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage Sa Jan 31, 2009 2:13 pm
Ok, so last night I decided to get the new fallout 3 DLC... that shouldn't be to hard, right?
Start time : 9:00
GET time: 3:00
Ok, so you need to buy the DLC with microsoft point through games for windows live. I downloaded live, and it started complaining about how I need a windows XP hotfix to make it work. So, I click the get hotfix now button. BAM. Dead link.
So, I go online and download a version of the hotfix that someone saved, and load windows live again. BAM. Internet error. I do some research, and figure out that I need to download a bunch of new drivers (that windows does not auto update for some reason). So, all the updates are installed.
I open windows live again, and it works. "Oh cool, I can log in with my xbox live account. Even cooler, I already have 800 ms point (the cost of fallout 3 DLC) on my account". So, I go to operation Anchorage and click buy. ERROR.
After some laborious research, I discovered that if your live account says you are under 18 (which apparently mine did) it will give you an error message when you try to buy an M game. Not a "you aren't old enough" message. Just a plain old "ERROR, try again later' message. So, I spend a few hours trying to fix a non-existent internet error, before finally figuring out its because I'm under 18.
Ok, so I need to make a new live account. I make a new windows live account (gamer tag and everything) that says it is like 40 years old. Then, I pay 12$ to add 1000 microsoft point to it (it will only let you add points in certain increments). Ok, this should work now, right?
Wrong. I log in to windows live, and spend my 800 points on operation anchorage. "Do you want to continue?" Fuck yes. ERROR.
So, windows live takes 800 points off of my new account, and doesn't give me the DLC. By now I'm really pissed off, and my dad is mad at me for loosing 12$ bucks to microsoft. I restart my computer a few times, and reinstall windows live. It FINALLY starts downloading. Yay. But not.
After waiting for operation anchorage to download, I boot up fallout 3. Nothing. No awesome winter combat simulation with new weapons and armor. What the fuck. I wait like 20 minutes and never get the outcast radio beacon that starts the quest. Fuck fuck fuck.
I go back to windows live. It lists operation anchorage under my "installed add-ons". ARARARARARARARARGGGGG.
I give up and SOMETHING_BAD the damn thing. The SOMETHING_BAD doesn't work.
I go on 99chan and beg for a rapidshare. I get one... in two parts (meaning you need to wait between downloading them, or pay).
I go on 4chan and beg for the other part through a different download site. I get it, and finally the two parts are downloaded. I merge them with some file merging program, and extract everything in my fallout 3 data folder. PLAY? NO. Fallout 3 crashes. My computer crashes. I eat a few cookies and restart.
I launch fallout 3 again, and it works. PLAY? YES!
All of that, for some chinese stealth armor, a gauss rifle, a trench knife, a shock sword, and some wintery power armor. I hate myself.

I know how you feel, I can't seem to find a good Ghost in The Shell: Solid State Society (English dub) SOMETHING_BAD that works.

It's actually really good. The gameplay is completely changed, its more of a standard FPS than a FPSRPG (you can't loot corpses, ect). Theres a great story to it as well.

I knew it, it wasn't a problem with the files I gave you!
The armors are awesome, but the Gauss Rifle is buggy as hell.

Remember in the simulation when the Gauss Rifle was an epic one hit kill? In the wasteland it's not nearly as good. Also, try shooting someone with it up close or in vats - the bullet either goes though them (does no damage) or does barely any damage.
