Do you mean the whole show, or just the second season?
Haruhi is basically about a girl who is (essentially) god, and has the power to destroy the world and stuff, so the main characters (an alien, time traveler, esper, and random normal person) have to keep her from becoming bored so she won't blow up the world and create a new one. Just read the wiki
I actually haven't seen the first episode of season two as I'm in California (I'm not sure why).

Meh, I watched it. The episode was pretty good, and so was the new closing song, but it cant beat the Hare Hare Yukai.
