I just thought I'd tell you guys a little about the story of my game, to fill the absence between updates.
This is just the backstory, you'll have to wait until the game comes out to find out more (that was a good way of saying that i haven't thought of it yet, right?)
Ok well here goes:
Maelstrom (or end of the world party, i haven't decided yet) takes place in a place that I haven't named yet which, after years of peace and tranquility, had fallen into chaos. The world's resources were running out, and population was growing. The world's people split up into 4 factions, and a nasty war began. After nearly 20 years of ceaseless fighting, the faction's leaders came together to try and find a solution. finally some smart guy came up with an idea: all of the faction's remaining money and resources would be put together to create separate renewable energy sources that would be powered by natural sources found in the the factions different climates. The Steel Empire, who's main city rested in a area of craters and natural vents would now use steam power. The Republic of Noon, which was based in a desert area, now would now use solar power. The Azel Federation, which was situated at the edge of the ocean, would now use wind and water power. Finally, the Ciberium Republic would be powered by the minerals (cyber) that were found naturally in their forest home. The people who belonged to no faction retreated north to a area of cold and snow, and the world was again at peace.
Cool, huh? that took me nearly a hour to think up
Ok, but this is the cool part - depending on which faction your character is in (or lack of faction) your weapons and other things will be powered by that nation's energy source.
For example, if you choose one of the two characters from the steel empire, you will use steam powered weapons. There will be a gauge on the side of the screen that says the amount of steam pressure remaining. When you run out, you need to return to your city's boiler room to re - pressurize your weapons, or use a steam canister. Similar things will happen to characters of other nations as well. However, if you are a character from the steel empire and buy a weapon from another faction, it will not run off steam power without heavy (and expensive) modification. So, unless you are friendly enough with the other nations (maybe killing their people is a bad idea ) you shouldn't use weapons that rely on their energy sources.

cyber is a large mineral, that you place in a little container thingy on your back. It is very powerful and lasts a long time, but because of their size and weight you can only carry three at a time.
