So whhat do you guys think will be powering our computers in the future, will it be nuclear fusion or will some smartass get the idea of having a magnet drive a generator?
Btw does anyone know why nearly all powerplants use heat to boil water and let the steam drive a turbine?

Nuclear Fusion I'd say is 20+ years away. I'm not sure about your second question.

Fission is more than enough, but people are total pussies so it'll be a while/never until they shut up and let us use one of the most powerful power sources we have today.

I remember writing a paper in 7th grade explaining how everyone should use nuclear power. Can't remember why, to be honest, but I trust myself.
GO NUCLEAR POWER!

It doesn't matter what powers the computer as long as there isn't an undervoltage.
Nuclear power plants use steam turbines to generate power because that is the easiest and for the most part efficient way to generate power.
Scientists have been trying to drive a recursive electric generator for years, physics says it's impossible to create such a system.

2nd question: because water and lumber were abundant resources. And the rate of production was much slower, so a faster engine (i.e. combustion engine) wasn't required.

hmm i was more thinking why not use magnets to spin the turbine..

I'm curious too. Fucking magnets, how do they work?

Because using an electric motor to spin a turbine to supply power to the electric motor is very hard to do according to quantum physics.
