CODMW2 RAGE

I was going to preorder the new COD, but, just yesterday I found out:

1. There will be no dedicated servers, the entire system will use p2p, in a new system called IW.NET matchmaking (Battle.NET anyone?). This will cause giant amounts of lag (making epic 32 or 64 player battles impossible), and will kill of community servers. Also, see reason 2.

2. There will be no mod tools. Period. No custom maps, no total conversions, no nothing.

3. DLC will no longer be free on the PC, you WILL have to pay (not as big as one and two)

4. The standard, cheapest version of the game for the PC is $60 (not as big as one, two, and three).

5. No info whatsoever about the PC version of the game untill the previous weekend (and we still don't know the system requirements, not that it is a problem for me).

Operation Flashpoint 2 went the P2P only multiplayer route, and it sucked from massive lag issues.



With this, Infinity Ward and Activision are turning PC gamers into Xbox gamers. I will not deal with this bullshit. I'll waffle the game for single player, and then buy it if/when they release a patch allowing dedicated servers.

At the time of this writing, the petition for dedicated servers has 80,800 signatures. If everyone would just click sign, I would appreciate it.

Oh, yeah, sorry for double post, but I just wanted to say that Battlefield Bad Company and Battlefield 1943 will be my CODMW2. DICE just issued the following statements via twitter:

"Dedicated servers FTW. What ever secures a better online experience is a given for us."

"#Battlefield You're dedicated to your game, why shouldn't your servers be dedicated too? We understand your pain #MW2 PC fans."

"@Demize99 What else would people expect from a PC game that's only a port of their console game."

"We feel it's important to support the unique community needs of the PC community. Dedicated servers are a big part of this, and we recognize that requirement. We're putting a server browser and matchmaking in 1943 PC and the same features are intended for BFBC2."

"We're working hard on the PC version with a dedicated team building and molding the game so it is not a console port. This team is lead by DICE developers responsible for Battlefield 2. Very experienced and hardcore PC gamers."

Who needs COD MW2 when you have these?

Don't bitch about it until the game comes out... I would trust Infinity Ward to know their shit.

They refuse to answer any questions about the system, It's clear they've left the PC behind. COD4 still works, I'll play that until BF1943 and BFBC2 come out.

A flaw for the PC multiplayers? I wish it wasn't true. I was looking forward to more lagless 30 v 30 online madness.

Good point, the difference probably won't be noticeable. Also Pheonix, It's not like a lack of officially sponsored mapping tools will hurt the game... if anything it'll force the hackers to make their own better tools.

Whatever the case, I'm sticking with QuakeWorld.

online petitions don't work or else halo wars would be on pc(got millions) other than just for xbox 360 which is stupid >.<

also if you are so upset about spend lots of money making a few servers with hacked copys of the game telling it to run games of certain gametypes when a certain amount of players have joined and keep them constantly running....

whats that? no? why? too difficult? cost too much? well then it can't be that much of a deal can it?

well.... I don't all the time but I use too....
and I have quake 3 arena and quake 2 on my external for whenever I feel like paying so yeah I suppose so... but I will stick with my Duke Nukem 3D!!!

Actually, it's mine. I deleted grim before we did the ODST/Halo 3 game day. Sort of distracted everyone.

Yep, now with completely destructible buildings (camping sniper? call an airstrike on his hideout). It comes out in march.

and now they do! but I'm having a glitch with my verson of firefox and the add-on lol so I guess I won't be playing atm
